There are different levels of privacy for your data. If your data is private, which is how it starts out, no one can see, chart, or download it. If you make your data public, other people can see and chart it. If you "Allow Downloads" then they can also copy the data to their own computer. (Note, if your data is public but not downloadable, particularly determined users could still copy of your data even if you don't "Allow Downloads". But it's not easy.) You can change the default download setting by going to your Account Page.

Longer text boxes for custom annotation. [updated]

I would like to be able to drag the sides of text boxes in order to pull them to any size. See http://verifiable.com/app#/charts/5032 I had to use 3 text boxes to get "Percent of GDP (gross domestic product" on one line. I had to use 2 text boxes for "Source: OECD Health Data 2009".

I tried grabbing ahold of the sides while in edit mode (double click). Since nothing happened when doing that in edit mode I figured the text box width was not editable. I may have even tried that after a single click. But I must not have grabbed the handles. I probably was afraid to do that since in other editors the handles are the points to click in order to delete a table. In other editors sizing is done by grabbing the sides away from those deletion points.

I noticed that the text box automatically wrapped the text to the next line as I typed. So I thought that was the only option sizewise.

Maybe a solution is to add some more info to the yellow popups. "Click once to move, or to change the box size via the handles. Double-click to edit what is inside the box."

I can't get a chart out of my data. I click on "new chart" and I pick a chart type. Then it asks for "Choose X Axis Variable". I see no place to do that.

For anyone else with this problem, please note that on the left hand side of the chart edit screen are 2 sections. The top section holds all your variables. The bottom section holds the attribute folders. Dragging and dropping variables from the top section into an attribute folder allows you to change the look of the chart. So, for instance, if you want "Year" to be on the X Axis, drag and drop the variable titled "Year" from the top section and drop it into the X Series folder.

In general, you should type all your text into a text box before worrying about resizing. It will automatically resize as you type. click outside the text box to save it. Then,
select the text box by clicking once on it. you should see something like this: http://grab.by/2O8c. When you move your cursor over the little square boxes on either end of the rectangle, the cursor will turn into a double headed arrow. when your cursor is a double-heded arrow you can drag the edges of the box to make it bigger.

The "Upload Public Data" button on the home page was used. Then the "Paste Data" tab. I pasted in 2-column, plain-text data. The 2 columns were only separated by spaces. This is how many people would like to add data. It is intuitive, and requires no knowledge of spreadsheets. Anybody can do this. As in "here is my data" and "Please let me make a chart now." Here is how it ends up on the data page when the draft is finalized: http://verifiable.com/app#/data_sets/4995 Before it was finalized I could see 2 columns, but both columns were listed under "A". After I clicked the finalize button all the %GDP numbers were eliminated, and ".0" was appended to the end of all the years. Here is the data in plain-text form below that I copied and pasted. With a fixed-width font like Courier New it lines up. I have data sets that periodically (daily or hourly) grow by a few data points. I store a copy of the data set at verifiable.com. I would like an API to keep the copy in sync with my master data set, or have verifiable.com pull my master data set when it is accessed. Charts based off the data should be update as the data set changes.

If I make an embed of a private chart, I sometimes want to make it harder for users to disseminate that chart. I understand that because of the way that html works there is no way for me to avoid a user who can view the html code from figuring out how to share the chart. And currently, only users that I have personally invited can view private content regardless of whether or not it is embedded or on the verifiable.com website.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Control_chart A chart type with line and point display, but the ability to specify spec and control limits - maybe through keyword column names (USL, UCL, TAR, LCL, LSL), so that SPC violations are clear. Stats like Cpk, %OOC would be cool too. This capability would be very helpful in manufacturing environments and increasingly in service.
